The financing of Cadeler’s new offshore wind installation vessels has been named “Offshore Green Deal of the Year” by Marine Money. Eksfin was one of two export credit guarantors behind the transaction.

“Offshore Green Deal of the Year”

Marine Money, one of the leading professional communities within maritime finance, presents its “Deals of the Year” awards annually. For 2025, the award in the Offshore Green Deal of the Year category went to the financing of Cadeler’s new offshore wind vessels – a 12-year senior secured green term loan of EUR 525 million.

Eksfin and China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) provided the state-backed export guarantee support in the transaction. Together, the two guarantors covered around 75 per cent of the loan amount, laying the foundation for highly competitive terms. Eksfin’s share was EUR 110 million.

The loan was structured as a green loan, tied to tangible environmental benefits in the offshore wind build-out. The guarantee support made it possible to syndicate the loan widely: ten international banks took part, alongside DNB Carnegie as arranger. The transaction was oversubscribed.

2025 was a landmark year for Cadeler, which doubled its operating fleet from five to ten vessels. The new A-class vessels allow the company, for the first time, to take on the full transport and installation scope for offshore wind foundations (monopiles) – a step towards becoming a full-service provider in the foundations market.

“For Eksfin, this type of financing is at the core of its mandate – making large, capital-intensive export projects possible while promoting Norwegian exports. The vessels are being built at the Cosco Qidong yard in China, but incorporate significant Norwegian technology, including from Kongsberg.” says Linn Lie, head of Maritime / Yards.

The awards was presented during Marine Money Week in New York on 15–17 June 2026.
